Kelly exercises to be strong. It is not always easy to fit exercise into our busy lives, but it is vitally important to maintaining good health.
The best way to get started in something is to get started in something! It certainly helps if you have someone to be your exercise buddy (or at least your cheerleader!), but start slow and easy. Always check with your doctor before beginning any exercise routine.
February, 2024:
Time to share some of my run follies from 2023! I logged a lot of miles, ran a few fun events, even placed in my age group in a couple events! Who would have thought?!
These are from the Detroit Marathon Weekend. I ran a 1 mile run, a 5k, and a Half Marathon. The pictures above are from the Half Marathon. It was a great route, over the Ambassador Bridge into Windsor, Canada then return to Detroit via Windsor Tunnel (the picture where I am not waving was taken right after I exited the Tunnel…it was HOT in there and I was gassed!).
The above pictures are from a few of the other events I participated in (Moonlight Run 8/23, Buffalo Marathon Weekend 5/23, Shamrock Run 3/23).
Running is hard for me some days, I frequently try to talk myself out of doing it. That said, I never regret a run once completed. I do it for me, my health, I have wonderful run friends, Buffalo has an amazing run community, and (maybe this sounds weird) running has made me a better LMT! Win win win situations all around! Stay tuned for updates in 2024! I am signed up for some fun events!
February, 2023, post:
It’s been a REALLY long time since I updated this page! I have certainly done a lot of running since my last post 🙃
My biggest accomplishment was running the historic Boston Marathon. Not much can top that if you are a runner. I did that October 11, 2021. The world was still in the throws of COVID, but BAA figured out a way to make this happen. It was even more historic because it happened in October (Boston Marathon traditionally happens in April). It was the 125th running of the event. I was so proud to be a part of it.

Good habits begin with having the right mindset. This is particularly true when it comes to maintaining a healthy and balanced lifestyle (and that balance includes sometimes indulging…everything in moderation!).

Be positive, set realistic goals, and do not compare yourself to others. Most importantly, have fun!
